Empowering young women

posted Feb 4, 2018, 3:50 AM by Ma Nirvikalpini Nithya   [ updated Feb 4, 2018, 3:50 AM ]

Our great thanks to Pauline Juliet an NGO which exists to supply girls of Uganda, and the world, the education & empowerment necessary to effect change within themselves and within their communities. PaulineJuliet have provided some of the Starlight adolescent girls with sanitary pads and underwear as well as giving sex education. These are items very much needed in our area as many cannot afford them. Without the proper sanitary items girls often miss school. Sex education is also very important to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and/or unplanned pregnancies which also have a big impact on the young women of Uganda. Please support the work of PaulineJuliet  or send donations to Starlight Family to directly support the young women under our care.

Thanks to our supporters in the UK who once again picked and sold a whole lot of apples to raise money for Starlight Family we have been able to invest in the farm's irrigation system and move forward with our tomato growing project. Local government advisors have suggested that tomatoes will be a good crop for us to grow to sell to provide funds for all of our charitable activities.

We are so thankful to our new friends from USA, Lisa and Neil Kossis, who made a donation so that we could have school desks built for the children who were without them. Now the children can be comfortable whilst they learn.

A recent campaign via Go Fund Me to raise money to pay for registration documentation requested by the local district government has been successful and the school can continue to operate. There are more government requirements that will need to be met in the coming year in order to keep the school operating which we will post about soon.
